This Margarita Island vacation rental apartment has a convenient location at a budget price. For much less than the price of a hotel room you can spend your vacation in a 1 bedroom 12th floor apartment with a beautiful ocean view. The apartment building has a secure parking area but you really don't need a vehicle. The rental apartment is conveniently located so you can easily walk to the beach, restaurants, and downtown Porlamar, Margarita. There are busses and taxis passing all day long right in front of the apartment. Directly across the road from the apartment is a bakery for fresh bread and sweet rolls. There is a mini-supermarket on the ground floor of the apartment building, street vendors sell fresh fruit and there is a laundry nearby. There is also a pair of wild macaws that fly past the apartment window nearly every day. Margarita Island is a great vacation spot and has it all; beaches, palm trees, fantastic restaurants with very reasonable prices, some of the most beautiful people in the world, and it is a duty-free port with stores and shopping centers similar to those in the U.S. or Europe. Margarita Island is located in the southern Caribbean where hurricanes are not a concern.

Porlamar is the largest city on Margarita Island. It has changed from a quiet fishermen village into a booming town with excellent hotels, night clubs, and luxurious restaurants. Its original name was "Puerto de la Mar" (Port of the Sea) but the people shortened it to Porlamar. Porlamar is located on the Caribbean Ocean and has several nice beaches right in the city. Margarita Island was made duty-free in 1973 so there is great shopping in the city and in the upscale malls. Margarita is the largest of about 72 islands sprinkled through the blue waters off Venezuela's northern coast. Margarita is a Caribbean island by virtue of geography and climate. "Pearl of the Caribbean" and "Cancún south" are just two of its nicknames and it has a reputation for delivering the Caribbean experience on the cheap.
